What You’ll Do as a Barista

As a Barista at Ryan Brothers Coffee, you’ll be the face of our brand and the heartbeat of our operation. Your day-to-day will include:

Beverage Craft & Execution:

• Prepare a wide variety of drinks, including espresso-based beverages, cold brews, teas, frappes, smoothies, and seasonal specialties with precision and consistency.
• Steam milk to perfection for lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, and more.
• Operate our innovative Hot Draft nitro system and Freestyle Xpress platform with confidence.
• Learn and represent our full product catalog, from house blends and cold brews to handcrafted flavored powders and teas.
• Taste, evaluate, and self-correct to ensure every drink meets our high-quality standards.

Guest Experience & Service:

• Welcome every guest with genuine warmth and energy, creating a memorable experience for regulars and first-time visitors alike.
• Share your knowledge of seasonal and specialty items to upsell with confidence.
• Handle complaints or adjustments with grace, ensuring every guest leaves satisfied.
• Balance mobile and in-person orders seamlessly, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Bar Operations & Teamwork:

• Open and close the bar following our cleaning checklists and shift standards.
• Keep your station clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.
• Collaborate with teammates to ensure smooth operations and support where needed.
• Participate in training refreshers, team huddles, and menu rollouts to stay sharp and informed.

What We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of customer-facing experience (coffee or service industry preferred).
• California Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain before your first shift).
• Reliable transportation and flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for 3–6+ hours and lift up to 30 lbs.
• A self-motivated, team-oriented attitude.

Strongly Preferred:

• 1+ year of specialty coffee or espresso bar experience.
• Familiarity with espresso dialing, milk steaming, and drink sequencing.
• Experience in high-volume or fast-paced café environments.
• Knowledge of coffee origins and roast profiles.
• Barista training certification or equivalent hands-on experience.
• A genuine passion for craft coffee, hospitality, or food culture.

Training & Onboarding

All new baristas complete Ryan Brothers Coffee’s comprehensive onboarding program before taking on independent shifts. Training covers: - Food safety and allergen protocols. - Recipe and menu execution. - Barista handling standards, including station setup and close. - Temp logging, FIFO inventory management, and more.

A 60-day evaluation period will help us ensure a great fit for both you and our team.
