Job Overview:
The Driver/Yard Supervisor is knowledgeable of yard and transportation operations and enjoys leading a team. This position is responsible for maintaining operational functions and drivers.
We are looking for someone who has a positive and professional attitude, enjoys problem solving and thrives in a fast pace rewarding environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates all activity for the yard.
  • Supervises Branch Technicians.
  • Works with Operations Coordinator & Routers to coordinate routes, pick-ups, and deliveries to ensure the best routing efficiency.
  • Work directly with other departments to ensure excellent/positive communication within the division.
  • Work with various departments to resolve customer service & other issues.
  • Work with Operations Supervisors at other yards to coordinate asset transfers, when necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining proper staffing levels to meet and exceed customer and branch needs.
  • Assists Operations Manager with coordinating logistics (delivery & pick-up, service of assets) for special events and works special event, as needed.
  • Reviews all paperwork from drivers including manifests, P&D tickets, route sheets, DVIR's, etc. for completion and accuracy.
  • Reviews and approves employee timecards prior to submitting for payroll processing.
  • Coordinate time off request forms and schedule time off based on operational necessity.
  • Responsible for ensuring the company's safety program for the driver function.
  • Works with Safety & HR to coordinate safety training, where necessary.
  • Responsible for employee development & conducting periodic performance reviews.
  • Drive/operate a variety of company vehicles.
  • Route Driving:
  • Serve as a driver when necessary to cover routes, provide training to new drivers, or address staffing gaps.
  • Prefer candidates that maintain an active CDL (Class A or B) with applicable endorsements.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Train, coach, and mentor drivers and field personnel to achieve operational excellence.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve individual and team performance.
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented culture while upholding company values.
  • Safety and Equipment Management:
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to field operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of operations, compliance checks, and incident reports.
  • Equipment Readiness and Yard Organization
  • Ensure the yard is well-organized, clean, and safe for daily operations
  • Ensure all equipment is deployment-ready or in the process of being ready.
  • Oversee the storage, staging, and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, trailers, and supplies.
  • Implement processes to improve efficiency in equipment handling and reduce downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the yard to identify and address safety or operational issues.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in personnel or operations management is preferred.
  • CDL (Class A or B) with endorsements, or willingness to obtain is preferred.
  • An understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using routing software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
