  FLSA: Exempt   Temporary/Continuing:  Temporary   Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time   Union Group: Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT)   Term of Position: 9 Month   At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause   Summary of Position: The Department of Humanities at Ferris State University seeks applicants for a 9-month, full-time, 3-year appointment as an adjunct lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in Art Studio, including, but not limited to, Introduction to Art and 3D Design/Beginning Sculpture, on the Big Rapids, Michigan, campus.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching, the ability to work effectively with both faculty colleagues and students, and participation in other academically significant functions.
Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.
The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future.
The start date of this position is August 2026.   Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing   Required Education: Master's degree in fine arts

  Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Experience in teaching Arts Studio courses such as Introduction to Art and 3D Design/Beginning sculpture.   Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Primarily teach 12 credits of undergraduate Art Studio courses, per semester.

Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities, which may include continuing professional development, participation in curriculum development and university committees, orientation, registration, and recruitment of students, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (e.g., reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).


Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an online environment.
