Telematics Engineer

Summerville, SC

9+ month contract

Would prefer someone with extensive CANbus experience, J1939 and CAN tools (CANalyzer etc)

Summary:
This role is responsible for integrating and validating telematics hardware and software systems on industrial vehicles, ensuring seamless communication between vehicle networks, embedded systems, and connected technologies. The engineer will troubleshoot CANbus systems, perform vehicle-level testing and diagnostics, analyze data, support features such as access control, geo-fencing, operator controls, and HMI interfaces, and collaborate with cross-functional mechanical, electrical, and software teams to improve system performance and support field deployments.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in telematics, embedded systems, or vehicle integration engineering.
  • Experience with CANbus protocols, diagnostics, and connected vehicle systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, sensors, controllers, and vehicle interfaces.
  • Experience with validation/testing processes and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with electric and internal combustion vehicle platforms.
  • Experience in industrial vehicles, off-highway equipment, automotive, or similar environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of embedded software, IoT/fleet systems, GPS/cellular technologies, or functional safety standards is a plus.
