Job description

Our Seasonal Part-Time Photography Studio Assistant will be passionate, creative, and organized with the ability to conceptualize a scene and execute in-studio or on-location and deliver a wide variety of valuable photo assets based on the business goals of the shoot. This position works well will various people and loves a challenge, juggling multiple projects and working on sometimes tight deadlines to deliver a great product.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists studio operations at Outdoor Cap Company, JUNK Brands, & Legendary Headwear including checking and setup of equipment, product inventory for shoots, and set up and tear down of scenes in-studio or on-location
  • Assists all photographic execution of the day-to-day visual asset needs of the company to include lifestyle photography, product photography, and the occasional company picnic, adventure, or outing.
  • Assists all post production from shoots including retouching, selection, cataloguing, and storing in appropriate digital asset management systems
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for photography in the organization and works with other departments on their photo needs that vary from factory product photography to photos for customer approvals.
  • Acts as the asset and digital librarian of the organizations ensuring multiple copies of each asset are preserved both in and outside company walls with appropriate meta-data and descriptions for future searchability and access
  • Travels with team to location shoots locally in Northwest Arkansas and around the United States to capture photography showcasing our product lines and brands that convey the brand value and proposition
  • Provides creative oversight to the visual identity of brand assets and helps build an ever-evolving style guide through brand photography
  • Develops, resizes, crops, and reformats images to the necessary size and format most appropriate for the output media in digital advertising, print, email, and more
  • Provides videography services to company as needed for company messaging to customers, advertising media, or other occasional needs
  • Acts as the point of contact and development for external agencies and models.

Skills and Specifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Creative Cloud and DAM software (we use Bynder)
  • Excellent technical photography abilities and viewpoint for lifestyle or product shoots
  • Experience with automated product photo systems a plus (Iconasys, lightboxes, etc)
  • Able to work from a brief to convey creative intent of the product or service
  • Ability to deal with the unexpected in a calm and professional manner
  • Strong ability to nurture and communicate with internal/external brand stakeholder
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills to operate in fast paced environment.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills
  • Good visual, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Highly accountable with strong follow up skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience and understanding of lighting, both natural and studio lighting.
  • Highly motivated, strong work ethic with demonstrated flexibility to meet tight deadlines

Education and Qualifications

  • Education: High School degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in creative arts preferred; and 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Supervisory: None
  • Travel: Local locations

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and or walk (90% of the day) and occasionally reach, bend, climb ladders and move indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • Fine motor skills: required using the wrists, hands, and fingers to operate camera, lighting, computers, etc.
  • Vision: Required to have close visual acuity, color vision and depth perception
  • Ability to lift/move/pull 10-30 lbs occasionally throughout day; possibly up to 50 lbs during Quarterly shoots
