The Power BI Developer will work closely with the AIR Modernization team and stakeholders across multiple business domains to implement an enterprise analytics platform and deliver interactive dashboards, reports, and semantic models that enable informed decision-making. This position reports into the Technology Office.
This position offers hybrid work flexibility, requiring three days per week in AIR's Virginia office, with occasional travel for meetings, training sessions, and conferences.
About AIR:

We generate evidence and apply data-driven solutions that expand opportunities and improve lives for all.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for the position include:
  • Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of Power BI solutions (semantic models, dashboards, and reports) across multiple business domains and the enterprise.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into clear user stories, data definitions, and reusable reporting patterns.
  • Model data using dimensional best practices (e.g., star schema) and write optimized DAX to deliver performant, maintainable analytics.
  • Build and maintain ingestion and transformation workflows (Power Query/M, SQL, and/or Fabric capabilities) to integrate data from Dynamics 365 and other sources.
  • Leverage Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse/OneLake, as applicable) to implement scalable and secure data storage, processing, and semantic model strategies.
  • Own operational excellence for BI solutions, including refresh reliability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Implement and maintain security and governance practices (workspace strategy, permissions, RLS/OLS, endorsement/certification practices, and documentation).
  • Support a healthy delivery process by contributing to standards, code reviews, and deployment practices (e.g., dev/test/prod, version control, and release coordination).

Skills
  • Strong communicator able to engage senior leaders and both technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly conveying concepts, solutions, and tradeoffs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with remote and geographically dispersed teams, fostering alignment and shared understanding.
