Annexa is currently looking for a talented Microsoft Power BI Developer to support their large Education client's Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives. The team seeks a proficient BI developer who can support the technical back-end set up, dashboard development, tool deployment to users, staff and user training, as well as consult on developing the BI strategy and plan for the agency. The team is looking for a research oriented individual with a passion for working with large education data sets. The developer will work with SQL, DAX and Mquery to develop Power BI dashboards and work with stakeholders to build Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for their team.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop compelling Power BI data visualizations.
  • Create functional and technical documentation related to Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Develop and conduct training for current technical staff and nontechnical users.
  • Collaborate with both business and IT partners to identify key use cases and define associated requirements.
  • Conduct and support white-boarding sessions, workshops, design sessions, and project meetings as needed.
  • Provide thought leadership, best practices, and standards required to deliver effective Power BI solutions to schools.
  • Work with ODSS leadership to develop and refine a BI strategy around governance and adoption.
  • Coordinates IT project management, engineering, maintenance, QA, and risk management.
  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors project activities.
  • Develops technical applications to support users.
  • Develops, implements, maintains and enforces documented standards and procedures for the design, development, installation, modification, and documentation of assigned systems.
  • Provides training for system products and procedures.
  • Performs application upgrades.
  • Performs, monitoring, maintenance, or reporting on real- time databases, real-time network and serial data communications, and real-time graphics and logic applications.
  • Troubleshoots problems.
  • Ensures project life-cycle is in compliance with District standards and procedures.

Required Skills:
  • Quantitative background with 1-2 years of experience applying data visualization and business intelligence to the solution of real-world business problems.
  • Experience using MS Power BI. Must have a understanding of Power BI Desktop/Azure, DAX and SQL.
  • Microsoft technology stack experience (SQL Server, SQL Management Studio, SSIS, SSAS, Azure data platform, Etc.).
  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices with a solid understanding of OLTP, OLAP and ETL processes and technologies.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, problem-solving abilities, communication skills and experience training staff and users.
  • Highly self-motivated to deliver both independently and with strong team collaboration.
  • Experience working with K-12 education data, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
