Job description

Under the direction of the HIM Manager, the Health Informatics Analyst is responsible
for the quality, integrity, and confidentiality of a patient's health information.
Ensures medical records are maintained and released in compliance with ethical,
legal, and regulatory requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Releases patient protected health information, in compliance with the Center's policies and procedures and related state and federal regulations.
  2. Assists with the Center's HIPAA compliance program and maintains current knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements regarding HIPAA, HITECH and patient privacy.
  3. Runs and analyzes reports needed to ensure a secure, accurate, and compliant electronic health record.
  4. Maintains the master patient index through medical record maintenance functions such as identifying and merging duplicate charts and maintaining an index with the location of all patient charts and medical information.
  5. Writes health information management processes as needed.
  6. Attends committee meetings, completes projects and assignments to include evaluating and testing EHR software and utilities as needed.
  7. Always demonstrates a service-oriented mindset by providing excellent internal/external customer service. Develops and maintains good inter-relationships and partnerships with all departments.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
Minimum of 3 years executing patient release of information requests
High level of verbal and written skills
IT/computer systems technology and applications experience
Ability to travel as needed

Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.
Physical: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. May have to lift folders, files, papers, audio/video equipment, and other such items weighing up to approximately 25 lbs.
