Job Overview: The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth through identifying, developing, and nurturing new business opportunities and relationships while expanding market presence. This role involves strategic planning, marketing, market research, networking, building strategic partnerships, and sales skills.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Development: Formulate and implement business strategies to establish and expand the company's market presence. Actively seek out avenues to promote and execute strategies.
Product/Service Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the company's products/services to effectively communicate value to prospective and existing clients.
Networking and Relationship Building: Build and maintain relationships with potential clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
Sales and Negotiations: Lead sales initiatives, negotiations, and closing deals to meet and exceed sales targets.
Client Management: Ensure client satisfaction and manage ongoing relationships for repeat business and referrals.
Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders including other departments like marketing, product development, engineering, service, and finance to align business development strategies.
Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on business development activities and results, providing insights for continuous improvement and identifying trends.
Market Research: Research thorough market analysis to identify new opportunities and understand the competitive landscape.
Innovation: Continuously seek innovative ways to improve the business development process and service offerings of the company.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Marketing, or Business degrees; active membership in current industry specific associations. Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role, preferably in a startup environment.
Experience:
• Can demonstrate 5+ years' experience in developing and sustaining business relationships.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
• Scientific communication skills documenting and presenting work to both public, scientific, continued education audiences. Bonus would be published works in trade/industry journals and publications.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations related to water and water pollution control.
• Seek out specific references to support experience in the standards, protocols, and technologies in the summary above.
• Understanding and/or experience of AI and/or ML statistical techniques
• Exposure to Decision Quality processes
• Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite productivity tools such as TEAMS, OneNote, Word, Excel, and Power Point as a minimum
• Proficiency in CRM Systems (e.g. Salesforce)
• Ensure experience in relationship-building and sustainability
• Bonus is having previously operated own company.
