Job description

Senior Drafter Designer, you’ll contribute to project teams by developing Outside Plant (OSP) network designs and ensuring compliance with established deliverables and regulations. You’ll identify project issues, collaborate with engineering and construction teams, and create supporting documentation, all while working to meet project deadlines effectively.

What you’ll do...

  1. Participate on project teams and ensure compliance with predetermined project deliverables
  2. Identify and course correct project issues and risks, participate in response plans to resolve issues
  3. Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software
  4. Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks
  5. Work with Engineering and Construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies
  6. Create documentation and reporting to support the work package, ie: bill of materials, labor quantities, etc.
  7. Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with the requirements of local, state and federal regulations, which may include Rural Utilities Service (RUS)
  8. Run and troubleshoot FME models
  9. Create ArcPro templates
  10. Provide any documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities
  11. Meet project deadlines and successfully complete tasks under tight timelines
  12. Assist in technical employee training
  13. Other duties as assigned


What you’ll need...

  1. To be 18 years of age or older
  2. Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  3. High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least four years of telecommunications OSP Design/Engineering Experience is required
  4. Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred
  5. Expertise in a drafting software such as AutoCAD is required


Knowledge of

  1. Telecommunications industry standards
  2. Regulations for OSP facilities
  3. Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
  4. Fiber to the Home and Fiber to the Building
  5. Government permit requirements
  6. OSP Communications Design systems
  7. Applications such as NDS, FROGS, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset, FME, ArcPro and/or ESRI systems
  8. Fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment
