Job description

The Senior Civil Engineer will oversee the activities of a technical team within the Civil Core Business unit and direct activities required for the successful and profitable completion of assigned projects. Private and Municipal clients will be served.
Projects will include but will not be limited to waterline design, sewer design, and land developments projects such as: Park projects, wireless telecommunication projects, solar & wind projects, roadways and multi-use trails projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Financial profitability of assigned projects.
  • Working with their supervisor with business development efforts, to maintain a sufficient workload to achieve utilization goals and profitability.
  • Prepare project proposals (scope, schedule & fee) and qualifications.
  • Maintain and develop client relations and accountability to the client.
  • Coordinate and manage subconsultant for services.
  • Effective project management.
  • Follow procedures and processes as outlined in the Erdman Anthony Business Management Manual.
  • Follow Quality Controls procedure consistent with the core business Quality Control procedures.
  • Executes assignments requiring a thorough knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work.
  • Work on projects that typically include permitting, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control, drainage, hydrology, and other land development tasks.
  • Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, preparation of design calculations, and detailing for plan preparation.
  • Over-see or prepare Technical Specification (in a variety of formats?),
  • Prepares and supervises designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Be proactive in clarifying direction on project design issues and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of the scope, time, schedule and budget.
  • Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements.

Requirements:
  • Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred.
  • NYS Professional Licensure required.
  • Familiar with the General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Construction Activity, the NYSDEC Stormwater Management Design Manual, and Erosion and Sediment Control.
  • Familiar with the Joint Permit Application Form and the requirements thereof.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including proposal and report writing.
  • Ability to manage and take responsibility of technical work content.
  • Proficient with planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and coordinating detailed land development projects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor staff.
  • Familiarity / Experience with (Federal) Unified Facilities Design Criteria a plus
  • Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and HEC-RAS a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3d a plus.
  • Experience with HydroCAD Stormwater Modeling a plus.
