Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Telecommunications Installation Technician I is part of a team that installs and supports information systems for dairy farms across the country. This is a career track technical position with room for growth. Responsibilities include installation and support of networks, surveillance cameras, computers and computer hardware. This position requires a strong technical aptitude and experience and a desire to work in a farm setting with a team approach. The position is physically demanding and requires work in a variety of environmental conditions (heat and cold) and significant travel (minimum 60% of time) throughout the United States.
WORKING CONDITIONS
On site work is largely performed outdoors with regular exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
Work is performed on farms in close proximity to cows.
Work is performed using ladders and aerial lifts with heights up to 100 feet.
Work requires driving a vehicle and some air travel.
MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS
Ability to use a computer and telephone several hours a day in an office environment.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 80 pounds as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in animal science, General Agriculture, Information Systems, or relevant field and at least 1 year of relevant experience (ie. repairing Windows based computers, deploying point to multipoint wireless networks, or providing IT based managed services.) Additional relevant experience can substitute for education.
Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
General knowledge of electricity and wiring.
Previous experience in building trades, finish work, or general construction.
