In this role, you will leverage deep OSP/ISP construction expertise to drive peak team performance across a geographic territory or specific construction function — analyzing metrics, mentoring managers, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring every project is delivered with the highest standard of quality and customer satisfaction. This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives in a high-growth, high-demand environment and knows how to maximize team efficiency through data, process, and people.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in OSP/ISP telecommunications construction, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction prints.
- Thorough knowledge of fiber optic construction practices, procedures, and materials in urban and/or rural environments.
- Strong understanding of fiber and network design, with the ability to make field modifications to engineering work orders as required.
- Proven customer relationship skills with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and professionalism in all customer-facing interactions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
- High school diploma required; some college preferred.
- Experience managing managers is a plus.
- Familiarity with local municipal and utility licensing and permitting requirements is a plus.
- Experience with GIS systems (e.g., ESRI, IQ Geo) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor, train, develop, and manage a team of Construction Managers, Project Managers, Inspectors, and Contractors to ensure focused, high-quality delivery of telecommunications infrastructure in urban and/or rural environments.
- Assemble detailed and accurate cost estimates for upcoming construction projects; administer project budgets with full visibility and accountability to on-budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare detailed scopes of work and follow company processes for bids and vendor awards.
- Establish project timelines and oversee daily activities of vendor and internal resources to ensure on-time delivery for customers.
- Collect and interpret performance metrics to improve processes, identify inefficiencies, and maximize team productivity in a high-growth environment.
- Ensure project visibility through diligent use of company systems and tools including GIS platforms, inventory management systems, and network management tools.
- Demonstrate superior customer service skills, maintaining the highest standard of professionalism at all customer-facing meetings, surveys, and inspections.
- Support the Engineering and Permitting team in the timely acquisition of municipal and utility licenses and permits.
- Ensure timely processing of all project documentation in accordance with internal policies and procedures, including purchase orders, invoices, and as-builts.
- Provide regular, accurate construction status updates to key internal stakeholders and customers.
- Participate in network maintenance and repair activities as required.
- Perform other duties as required to support broader construction and organizational objectives.
What’s in it for you?
- Senior leadership role with direct ownership over a team of managers, contractors, and inspectors at a leading fiber optic network provider in a period of rapid infrastructure expansion.
- High-visibility position reporting to the VP of Construction, with broad influence over how projects are planned, resourced, and delivered across a growing network footprint.
- Opportunity to build and develop a high-performing construction organization in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Meaningful impact on the communities served through the deployment of next-generation fiber optic infrastructure.
