Job description

Freedom Construction Inc. is looking for a Fiber Optic Splicer to join our team!

Duties

-Splice fiber optic cables including both loose and ribbon cables

- Operate technical equipment, including but not limited to computer, OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicing equipment.

-Re-entry enclosures with active live fiber

- Reading and interpreting documents and splicing matrix

- Construct proper splice cases and fiber termination panels.
- Perform splicing and installation of fiber optic cables in both aerial and underground settings

- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal issues
- Utilize bucket trucks to access and work on telecommunication lines
- Operate bucket trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites
- Conduct field service visits to troubleshoot and repair fiber optic connections
- Splice fiber optic cables using specialized equipment and techniques
- Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cables for data and telecommunications systems
- Collaborate with field teams to meet project deadlines safely and efficiently
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working at heights or in hazardous environments, including using signs, cones, and other safety equipment while on work sites

- Lift and manipulate splice enclosures as well as other plant equipment

- Have the ability to read splice and test results

-Must provide timely reports to office administration

Preferred skills but not required.
- Proficient in the operation of bucket trucks for accessing telecommunication lines and work heights while maintaining safety standards
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems, including telephone networks and IT infrastructure
- Familiarity with low-voltage cable installation, termination, and testing procedures
- Competency in using specialized equipment for fiber optic cable splicing
