Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Telecom Technician to join our Information Technology Team. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and support of cable infrastructure, routers and switches, and business phone systems. This role is critical to ensuring our network and communication infrastructure remains secure, stable, and scalable.


Key Responsibilities:


Cable Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Install, test, and maintain structured cabling systems including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables.
  • Perform routine inspections and troubleshooting of network cabling for performance and compliance.
  • Label and document all network cabling according to internal standards.

Router and Switch Installation & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise routers and network switches (Cisco or similar).
  • Monitor network hardware for performance and faults and respond to outages or degradation of service.
  • Apply firmware upgrades and ensure hardware is patched and secured according to best practices.

Phone Systems Configuration & Management

  • Configure, install, and support VoIP, cloud and legacy Cisco phone systems. Cisco UCM and Cisco PSTN with Webex Calling
  • Manage call routing, voicemail, extensions, and system integrations.
  • Troubleshoot phone-related issues and provide user support as needed.
  • Coordinate installation, repair and maintenance of telecom infrastructure.


General Network Support

  • Work closely the Network Administrators to support overall infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain documentation for all systems, hardware, and configurations.
  • Assist with network expansion, upgrades and migrations as required.
  • Network Printing Maintenance/Support
  • Install and configure MFP and other print devices
  • Order and maintain stock of print consumables
  • Troubleshoot printing issues.

Help Desk Support and On-Call


  • Manage general help desk requests through ticket system, email and phone calls
  • Participate in On-Call rotation for 24/7/365 help desk support-approximately 1 calendar week/month.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant telecom or network technician experience.
  • Certifications (preferred but not required): CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.


Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems.
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting routers and switches.
  • Familiarity with VoIP systems and traditional PBX phone systems.
  • Capable of maintaining and troubleshooting print devices on network.
  • MS Office Application proficiency, specifically MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Visio.


Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • May require lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in server rooms, crawl spaces, ceilings, and other non-office environments.
  • Frequent travel between sites requires reliable transportation.
