At Telegent, we move fast, think creatively, and build technology that makes mobile communications simpler, more powerful, and more adaptive for the future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Staff Messaging Engineer (SMS/MMS) to own the architecture and reliability of our messaging infrastructure at scale. This is a high-impact individual contributor role: you will shape how SMS and MMS traffic flows across our platform, drive carrier integrations, and set the technical direction for messaging across a distributed team of engineers.

  • Support 10DLC, toll-free, short code, and international messaging workflows
  • Build and maintain APIs for outbound and inbound messages, delivery receipts (DLRs), and webhooks
  • Monitor throughput, delivery success, carrier response codes, and system performance
  • Investigate and resolve deliverability issues, including blocking, filtering, and spam classification
  • Enforce compliance with CTIA guidelines, opt-in/opt-out rules, and 10DLC requirements
  • Partner with SIP, network, and customer success teams to support enterprise messaging customers
  • Maintain technical documentation, routing logic, carrier mappings, and escalation procedures

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of experience building or operating SMS / MMS platforms in telecom, MNO, MVNO, or CPaaS environment
  • Hands-on experience with SMSC/MMSC platforms using SMPP for SMS and MM7 for MMS
  • Experience implementing and deploying Azure cloud-base platforms
  • Experience with carrier-grade messaging systems such as Jasmin, Melrose Labs, or similar routing platforms
  • Designing, implementing and maintain high-availability, multi-regional queue-based Kubernetes cloud-based message traffic routing
  • Strong understanding of SMPP, MM7, delivery receipts (DLRs), and carrier error codes
  • Experience integrating with U.S. mobile carrier or global messaging aggregators
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in live production messaging systems
  • Experience turning SMPP bind modes, throughput limits, and routing priorities
  • Experience with MMS media hosting, delivery, and content handling experience
  • Familiarity with AI development workflows and tools is strongly preferred
