Job description

Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Hunt Valley, MD (Onsite)

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join their growing team. This role involves working closely with senior engineers on a variety of facility design projects, from conceptual design through construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical skills, a passion for problem-solving, and a desire to grow within a fast-paced, quality-driven consulting environment.

Projects span multiple industries, including education, public works, water/wastewater, healthcare, transportation, transit, and aviation. You'll gain exposure to a wide range of electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, emergency power, fire alarms, security systems, CCTV, access control, and communications infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical design calculations and system layouts

  • Design systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools in line with client specifications and industry codes

  • Develop construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery

  • Attend client meetings and support project coordination efforts

  • Apply NEC, IBC, NFPA, and other relevant codes during design development


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical systems design (e.g., power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, telecom, security)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with NEC, IBC, and NFPA codes

  • Must pass the client’s Motor Vehicle screening


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Bentley MicroStation

  • Familiarity with electrical modeling tools (SKM Power Tools, ETAP)

  • Experience with lighting design software (AGi32, ElumTools)

  • Knowledge of electrical testing equipment

  • Experience working with federal, state, and local agencies and regulations

  • Familiarity with county and state-level project requirements


Work Environment & Travel:
  • Primarily office-based (90%), with occasional site visits

  • Field work may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions

  • Light lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required

  • Occasional regional travel (within 90 miles) for meetings, fieldwork, or construction verification
