Job Summary:
The Illinois Secretary of State is seeking a Data Systems Administrator for IT Device Operations. This role involves overseeing device-related services and ensuring compliance with IT standards while managing the lifecycle and security of various devices.
Responsibilities:
• Oversees Incident, Request, Problem, Change, Asset, and CMDB processes for all device and telecom services; Ensures accurate CI relationships, asset records, catalog items, and automated workflows; Drives SLA compliance, dashboard reporting, and workflow optimization.
• Aligns Device Operations activities to IT4IT value streams: Strategy to Portfolio, Requirement to Deploy, Request to Fulfill and Detect to Correct; Standardizes lifecycle processes to improve device consistency, telemetry, and recoverability; Ensures tooling, documentation, and operational controls follow IT4IT patterns.
• Maintains compliant endpoint configurations (CIS baselines, encryption, patching); Ensures inventory accuracy, configuration control, and secure provisioning; Leads device‑related security remediation, incident coordination, and vulnerability response; Ensures telecom provisioning and device changes meet NIST access and audit controls.
• Governs image development, application packaging, software deployment, and OS lifecycle; Oversees endpoint configuration platforms (Intune/Autopilot, SCCM/ConfigMgr); Manages patching strategy and ensure KPI-driven update compliance; Maintains device standardization and performance reliability.
• Oversees deployment, support, and lifecycle management of desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, and peripherals; Ensures statewide standards, quality of service, and measurable service improvement; Partners with Service Desk and Field Support to reduce repeat device incidents.
• Oversees telecom endpoint provisioning, MACD processes, softphone/VoIP readiness, and ACD device reliability; Coordinates with Network Services on telecom outages and configuration changes; Maintains ServiceNow catalog workflows and telecom device documentation.
• Provides standardized reporting on patching, SLAs, NIST compliance, device health, and telecom performance; Maintains audit‑ready documentation for assets, endpoints, and telecom devices; Communicates status, risks, and operational insights to leadership and business stakeholders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college preferably with courses in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or statistics supplemented by a master's degree in computer science or a related field and two years of managerial experience in a computer-based management information system.
• Requires thorough knowledge of management information systems, data base administration, systems analysis and computer communication systems.
• Requires thorough knowledge of the principles of organization, management and administration.
• Requires extensive knowledge of research and statistical procedures, program budgeting and systems modeling.
• Requires ability to implement program evaluations or system assurance.
• Requires ability to anticipate and resolve managerial problems.
• Requires willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Requires the ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50lbs.
