  • Experience with enterprise networking technologies is a strong plus.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting OT/utility telecom networks, SCADA communications, and high-availability network services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain telecom and networking systems for electric utility operations, including TDM, SONET/SDH, and MPLS-based platforms.
  • Plan and execute migration strategies from legacy telecom to modern IP/MPLS environments.
  • Support telecom infrastructure across substations, control centers, and field devices to ensure high availability and low latency for SCADA and critical operational systems.
  • Perform telecom network assessments, capacity planning, and system upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve telecom and network incidents; provide on-call support as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to ensure system resilience and compliance with NERC CIP and utility standards.
  • Document network architecture, configurations, and change management records.
  • Assist in integrating enterprise networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls, VPN) into the OT telecom environment.
  • Evaluate and recommend telecom/network hardware, software, and vendor solutions.
  • Participate in telecom system lifecycle management, including obsolescence planning, patching, and upgrades.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in telecom engineering for utilities, critical infrastructure, or industrial control environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of legacy telecom systems (TDM, SONET/SDH, PDH, microwave radio).
  • Strong working knowledge of modern IP/MPLS transport networks, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS TE, RSVP-TE, LDP), and QoS.
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking technologies: Cisco/Juniper routing & switching, firewalls, network segmentation, and VPN.
  • Experience supporting SCADA, AMI, or DER communications is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP compliance and cybersecurity standards for telecom and network systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform root-cause analysis.
