Job description

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world's best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where approximately 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost-free home and a top-notch education.  Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed today, with the resources to ensure students can thrive.  The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students for future generations.

The expansive campus, spanning over 6,000 acres and encompassing 300 buildings across two locations in Hershey, reflects MHS's commitment to growth and its mission to serve even more students in the future. This large-scale infrastructure supports its innovative, career-focused educational approach, making MHS a beacon of opportunity and development for children.

MHS seeks an Infrastructure Specialist (IS) to join its dynamic Information Technology (IT) Department. This full-time, in-person role in Hershey, PA offers a competitive salary ranging from $60,210 to $100,552 annually and a comprehensive benefits package.  This position is part of the IT Department's Infrastructure Team, which supports the Network, Audio/Video, and Telecom systems, as well as all server and data center infrastructure.

The IS serves as a junior administrator supporting the Server and Network Infrastructure teams. Responsibilities include administering, maintaining, and supporting network technologies, including switches, wireless access points, and firewalls; server technologies, including physical and virtual servers and server-based applications; and telecommunications systems, including the on-premises Mitel VoIP phone system, two-way radio system, and POTS infrastructure.

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the daily lives of students, staff, and the broader school community while enjoying a rewarding career at one of the nation's premier educational institutions.  The Infrastructure Specialist collaborates with the network and server teams to execute projects and systems. Key duties include:

Perform system administration tasks (ex: account and file share administration, data backup/restore tasks, etc.)

        Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems

Proactively monitor and maintain technology systems

Collaborate with various IT teams to implement projects and to solve cross-departmental technical challenges

Configure, test, and install network, server, and telecom hardware and software

        Create and maintain documentation

Associate degree in IT field or commensurate years of experience required

At least five years of experience in the IT field

A solid understanding of networking, server, telecom, and computer technology fundamentals

Experience troubleshooting and resolving network, server, and telecom technical issues

Experience using management tools to monitor and maintain technology systems

Experience administering Windows-based server hardware, operating systems, and applications.

Experience creating and maintaining technology documentation

Good organizational skills, ability to take ownership of complicated issues, and prioritize based on immediate needs

        Excellent communication skills

Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly

Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are considered role models for students

Candidates should be eager to actively engage with students.
