Job description

Fiber Construction Project Manager – Duluth, MN

Full-Time | $80,000–$115,000/yr | Company Truck + Hotel Covered | No Degree Required

Summary: Cable South Construction is hiring a Fiber Construction Project Manager to run fiber optic construction projects in and around Duluth, MN. You'll own project execution from planning through closeout — managing schedules, budgets, crews, subcontractors, and client relationships to keep builds on time, on budget, and up to code. No degree required — we care about what you've run in the field, not what's on a transcript. You'll be equipped with a company Ford F-350 and hotel covered for travel, so you're set up to run the job, not fight logistics.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $80,000–$115,000/year, based on experience
  • Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire, with benefits
  • Company Truck: Ford F-350 provided
  • Travel: Hotel accommodations covered for all travel
  • No degree required — 3+ years of relevant experience is what matters

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and manage fiber construction projects from kickoff through completion
  • Manage project budgets, track costs, and control scope to protect margins
  • Coordinate and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and equipment/material logistics
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utility partners, and permitting agencies
  • Track project milestones, production rates, and footage against schedule
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards, local permitting requirements, and utility specifications
  • Resolve field issues, utility conflicts, and scheduling delays in real time
  • Report project status, risks, and financials to leadership

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience managing fiber optic, telecom, or utility construction projects
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and crew management
  • Familiarity with permitting, utility locates, and right-of-way processes
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multiple crews simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills — this role interfaces directly with clients and utility partners
  • Open to travel
  • Valid driver's license
  • No degree required

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • PMP or construction management certification
  • Prior experience specifically in fiber/broadband construction (vs. general utility construction)

Why This Role Stands Out

  • $80K–$115K salary with full benefits — direct hire, not contract-to-contract
  • Company truck provided — Ford F-350, no wear on your own vehicle, no mileage math
  • Hotel covered for all travel — no out-of-pocket costs, no expense-report chasing
  • No degree required — advancement based on what you've actually run in the field
  • Real authority on real projects — you're managing the build, not just reporting on it
  • Growing fiber infrastructure company — long-term role, not a short-term build-out

Location

Duluth, MN (travel to job sites required)

Apply now — no degree required, 3+ years of experience gets you in the door.
