As one of the nation’s largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions we are expanding our staff and seeking a DAS/ Telecom Construction Technician to join the  FSG Houston - Technology team.

Job Description:

As a DAS/Telecom Construction Technician you will install RF In-Building cellular systems at various sites, perform equipment and system repair, maintenance and testing. Identify and acquire parts for replacement, maintenance and other work required in accordance with established procurement procedures.  Wire, connect, test and maintain new service or systems.  Respond to scheduled or emergency situations as assigned.

A DAS/Telecom Construction Technician will:

  • Install RF coax cables, fiber cables and associated connectors and terminations
  • Install radios, antennas and associated RF equipment
  • Install conduit/pathways in the ROW from source to site by trenching, excavating, hand digging etc.
  • Use RF test equipment such as a PIM unit, Line Sweep Tester or Light Meter to verify full functionality of installed components
  • Utilize construction documents to plan and complete site builds
  • Coordinate utility locates and implementation of traffic control plans
  • Prepare QA/QC Reports
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, RF radios, omni directional antennas
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, safety codes and local electrical codes.
  • Manage and coordinate various subcontractors as needed.
  • Work from ladders, aerial lifts, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair wiring & equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks while conveying knowledge of basic/specialized tools and equipment throughout service job/work order process.
  • Must understand and conform to Government/Local regulations and ordinances as well as any/all required Safety Guidelines.
  • Must be able to utilize digital platforms (iPad, Laptop) as required to fulfil job duties, i.e. digital record keeping, email, digital logs and forms and file sharing

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements and qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience in telecom installation and maintenance.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background screen
  • Must be willing to work some nights/weekends as required to maintain construction schedule
  • Willingness to perform work outdoors
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid and current driver’s license to operate assigned company service vehicle
  • Anritsu Site Master/PIM certifications a plus
  • Cellular carrier experience with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint a plus
  • OSHA preferred
