Job Title: CAD TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated CAD Technician in Virginia Beach who will be responsible for preparing survey plats and maps, including boundary, as-built, topographic, and utility route surveys. The role involves ensuring compliance with the requirements of various agencies such as VDOT, USACE, and NAVFAC. Candidates will manage individual projects, conduct courthouse research, process data collected by survey crews, prepare CAD files, perform construction staking calculations, and occasionally engage in fieldwork.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare survey plats and maps including boundary, as-built, topographic, and utility route surveys.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of various agencies (e.g., VDOT, USACE, NAVFAC).
  • Manage individual projects effectively.
  • Conduct courthouse research as necessary.
  • Process data collected by survey crews.
  • Prepare CAD files for various projects.
  • Perform construction staking calculations.
  • Occasionally participate in fieldwork assignments.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of surveying-related experience.
  • Proficiency in using Carlson and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with or exposure to MicroStation with GeoPak and/or OpenRoads.
  • Completion of a Survey/CAD related degree from an accredited institution may substitute for two years of required experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with demanding scopes and schedules.
Work Environment

This role may involve temporary assignments to projects in other offices, necessitating travel. While we strive to accommodate personal schedules, travel may be unexpected and require weekend stays. The candidate must be willing and able to travel throughout Virginia and surrounding states and work overtime as needed. Our offices are located in Virginia, Maryland, and Florida.
