How much do tele counseling jobs pay per week?

As of Jul 3, 2026, the average weekly pay for tele counseling in the United States is $2,320.96, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $1,942.31 and $2,653.85 per week, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some typical challenges tele counselors face when supporting clients remotely, and how can they effectively address them?

Tele counselors often encounter challenges such as building rapport without face-to-face interaction, managing potential technical issues, and ensuring client privacy. To address these, counselors use active listening and clear communication to foster trust, employ secure digital platforms to protect confidentiality, and prepare contingency plans for technical disruptions. Ongoing training in remote counseling techniques and regular supervision also help tele counselors adapt and provide effective support in a virtual environment.

How to make 200,000 as a therapist?

To earn $200,000 as a tele counseling therapist, professionals typically need to build a high-volume practice, specialize in lucrative areas like trauma or addiction, and maintain a full schedule. Increasing hourly rates, obtaining advanced certifications, and offering private pay services can also boost income. Many therapists supplement their income through group sessions, workshops, or creating digital content.

What are the highest paying telehealth jobs?

In tele counseling, licensed mental health professionals such as licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists tend to have the highest salaries. Psychiatrists generally earn the most, often exceeding six figures, due to their medical training and ability to prescribe medication, while experienced licensed therapists and counselors with specialized skills also command higher pay. Advanced certifications, experience, and working with private practices or specialized platforms can further increase earning potential.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tele Counselor, and why are they important?

To excel as a Tele Counselor, you need a background in psychology or counseling, active licensure (where required), and a strong grasp of therapeutic techniques. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure communication systems, and client management software is typically necessary. Excellent listening skills, empathy, and the ability to build rapport remotely set outstanding Tele Counselors apart. These abilities ensure effective support, client trust, and ethical, high-quality care delivered through virtual channels.

What is tele counseling?

Tele counseling is a form of counseling or therapy that is provided remotely using technology such as phone calls, video conferencing, or online chat platforms. It allows clients to connect with licensed mental health professionals from the comfort of their own homes, making mental health support more accessible and convenient. Tele counseling is often used for a variety of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and more. It is especially beneficial for people who have mobility issues, live in remote areas, or prefer more privacy during sessions.

How do I become a telehealth counselor?

To become a telehealth counselor, you typically need a relevant master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field, along with state licensure or certification. Additionally, strong communication skills, familiarity with telehealth platforms, and adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards are essential for providing remote counseling services.

What Are Tele-Counseling Jobs?

Tele-counseling jobs focus on providing counseling services online or over the telephone. In a tele-counseling position, your responsibilities depend on the kind of teletherapy you offer and the needs of each client. You can provide telecounseling services as a mental health therapist, licensed clinical social worker, psychologist, or psychiatrist. In this type of virtual career, your duties include conducting client assessments and providing therapy or counseling over the phone or internet. While virtual counseling jobs are most commonly available in the telehealth industry, you may also find academic tele-counseling roles that involve guiding new students and applicants at a college or university.

What is the role of a tele counselor?

A tele counselor provides mental health support and guidance through phone or online platforms. They assess clients' needs, offer counseling sessions, and develop treatment plans, often requiring active listening skills and confidentiality. The role typically involves working remotely and may require relevant certifications or licenses.
