Job Overview

JWC Steel Co., a Hartford-based fabricator specializing in structural steel and miscellaneous metals, is seeking a Structural Steel Tekla Detailer to join our Design & Technical Department. This full-time, onsite position is ideal for a self-motivated, independent, and goal-oriented professional with experience using Tekla Structures software. You'll play a critical role in developing precise 3D models that drive the success of our fabrication and installation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop accurate and detailed 3D models using Tekla Structures software
  • Generate shop drawings and blueprints for fabrication and field use
  • Ensure all models comply with project specifications, standards, and timelines
  • Identify and resolve design discrepancies or challenges during the detailing process
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Maintain version control and documentation for all modeling projects
  • Review architectural and structural drawings to confirm dimensions and design intent
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in detailing or modeling, preferably with steel or miscellaneous metals
  • Proficient in Tekla Structures software (required)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, technical drawings, and schematics
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset
  • No specific degree or certifications required — proven skill and reliability matter most
