General Description
JOIN OUR TEAM AS A DAY CAMP COORDINATOR!
Responsible administrative position in community recreation work for the development, organization, and implementation of the Summer Day Camp Program at ten (10) separate sites throughout Pasco County.
Essential Job Functions
Selects, trains, evaluates, and supervises seasonal employees and volunteers. Develops, staffs, schedules, equips, supervises, and evaluates the County's Summer Day Camp Program. Prepares and processes reports, payroll, and all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork; maintains records. Responsible for all income from registrations and field trips and expenses such as materials, services, and support. Makes daily site visits while camps are in session. Coordinates and implements the Counselor-In-Training Program, lunch program (Summer Food Service Program), special events, and field trips at all sites. Coordinates with outside agencies, guest speakers, and public services. Administers discipline toward employees and participants according to prescribed procedures. Serves as liaison between seasonal and full-time employees. Receives and answers inquiries from participants, parents, vendors, and field trip transportation and site operators. Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to prepare and process reports, payroll, and all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork and to maintain records.
  • Ability to coordinate and implement the Counselor-In-Training Program, lunch program (Summer Food Service Program), special events, and field trips at all sites.

Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to bend, stoop, and squat frequently. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, education, or a closely related field, and two (2) years' paid experience in recreation or childhood education. Experience with large scale programs is desirable.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATIONS: Valid Florida driver's license required. Valid CPR and First Aid certifications required.
