Job Purpose:
- The Youth & Teen Director at MERRIMACK VALLEY YMCA is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs that engage and inspire youth and teens. This role aims to promote personal growth, leadership skills, and community involvement among young individuals, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment that aligns with the YMCA's mission and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Organize and manage all aspects of youth, teen and family programming, including Adelante, Yo Puedo, Teen Achievers, Family Nights, Kids Nights Outs, and Youth Programs.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance related to family, arts and humanities and special interest programs, and teen programs. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  3. Develops and provides oversight to the annual budget for programs. Sets and monitors annual quality and enrollment goals for programs.
  4. Supports the Health and Wellness Director on Youth Sports programs.
  5. Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  6. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, members, program participants and volunteers.
  7. Purchases all supplies for programs. Maintains controls over inventory.
  8. Coordinates the schedule of the gymnasium.
  9. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
    in all programs.
  10. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  11. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  12. Perform building coverage (manager on duty) on a rotating schedule with other professional staff.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned. This position includes evening and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of one year related experience in leading and/or instructing youth and family programs.
  3. Computer literate. Knowledge and proven ability to work with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and database management.
  4. Ability to successfully obtain certification in CPR/ AED and First Aid.
  5. Proven ability to lead work teams.
  6. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
  7. Effective organizational and project management skills are required.
  8. Excellent training and group planning and facilitation skills are required.
  9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
    the community.

EFFECT ON END RESULTS:
  1. Delivery of safe and high quality youth and family programs that meet the needs of the Y membership, program participants, and community.
  2. Provide a growing number of youth and family programs.
  3. Development of sound financial procedures which provide income production and expense control to meet budget guidelines.
  4. Development of a growing body of satisfied members, active program participants, able volunteers and generous supporters who will continually advocate the mission of the Merrimack Valley YMCA.
