Job description

Huron helps its clients drive growth, enhance performance and sustain leadership in the markets they serve. We help healthcare organizations build innovation capabilities and accelerate key growth initiatives, enabling organizations to own the future, instead of being disrupted by it. Together, we empower clients to create sustainable growth, optimize internal processes and deliver better consumer outcomes.
Health systems, hospitals and medical clinics are under immense pressure to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of providing patient care. Investing in new partnerships, clinical services and technology is not enough to create meaningful and substantive change. To succeed long-term, healthcare organizations must empower leaders, clinicians, employees, affiliates and communities to build cultures that foster innovation to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
Joining the Huron team means you'll help our clients evolve and adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and optimize existing business operations, improve clinical outcomes, create a more consumer-centric healthcare experience, and drive physician, patient and employee engagement across the enterprise.
Join our team as the expert you are now and create your future.

At Huron, we help healthcare organizations transform their digital capabilities to improve clinical and financial outcomes. The Manager, IT Strategy & Operations is a client-facing consulting leader responsible for delivering high-impact IT advisory engagements to Huron's clients. This individual leads project teams, manages day-to-day client relationships, and drives the design and implementation of IT strategies, operating models, governance structures, and cost optimization initiatives - including advisory support for ERP and other major enterprise system investments. The Manager plays a critical role in both engagement delivery and business development, serving as a trusted advisor to client IT leadership while mentoring and developing junior consulting staff.
You will foster a supportive, inclusive environment, empower teams and create a workplace where diverse perspectives are valued. If you're passionate about driving impactful solutions and believe in the power of collaboration, Huron offers a rewarding path forward.

As the Healthcare Technical Consulting Manager, you will:

Engagement Delivery:

  • Lead workstreams or full engagements focused on IT strategy, IT operating model design, IT governance, cost optimization, and technology portfolio management

  • Support ERP advisory engagements, including readiness assessments, vendor/system selection, business case development, implementation oversight, and post-go-live optimization

  • Manage day-to-day client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for engagement leadership and client stakeholders

  • Structure and solve complex, ambiguous problems using structured problem-solving and analytical frameworks

  • Develop and deliver client-ready deliverables, including current-state assessments, future-state operating models, roadmaps, business cases, and executive presentations

  • Oversee IT financial analyses (budget, chargeback/showback, TCO, ROI) and vendor/contract assessments to support client recommendations

  • Facilitate client workshops, steering committee meetings, and executive working sessions

  • Manage project scope, timeline, budget, and risk, escalating issues appropriately

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor consulting staff (Analysts, Senior Analysts, Consultants), providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development support

  • Manage workstream teams, ensuring quality of deliverables and adherence to Huron methodologies and standards

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture on engagements

Business Development & Practice Growth:

  • Support business development efforts, including proposal development, client presentations, and scoping conversations

  • Contribute to the development of intellectual capital, methodologies, and go-to-market offerings for the IT S&O practice, including ERP and EHR-related advisory offerings

  • Build and maintain relationships with client stakeholders to identify follow-on opportunities

  • Participate in practice-building activities such as training, recruiting, and thought leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree a plus

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, including prior management consulting experience (required) and/or industry experience in IT strategy, IT operations, or technology leadership

  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and leading project teams in a professional services environment

  • Strong knowledge of IT operating models, governance frameworks, IT financial management, vendor management, and portfolio/demand management

  • Experience with ERP advisory work (e.g., selection, business case development, implementation governance, optimization) required; direct experience with major ERP platforms (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP) a plus

  • Experience with EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH) or healthcare IT environments a nice-to-have, given the overlap between ERP and EHR advisory work within IT S&O

  • Experience with IT advisory frameworks and tools (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, ServiceNow SPM/PPM) preferred

  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, and presentation skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites as required

  • Healthcare, higher education, or other Huron-relevant industry experience a plus

Core Competencies:

  • Client relationship management and executive presence

  • Structured problem-solving and consulting rigor

  • Team leadership and talent development

  • Business development acumen

  • Adaptability across industries and client contexts (including ERP and EHR-adjacent environments)

  • Strong written and verbal communication
