This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As the Director of Customer Integration on the New Glenn's Customer and Payload Accommodations team, you will manage a technical team through design, development, and integration of customer hardware on New Glenn's Second Stage (GS2). This is the largest and most capable upper stage ever developed and uses the largest commercial fairing available. Coupled with the reusable rst stage, this provides New Glenn customers with unprecedented payload launch capabilities. This position will support all aspects of program management to include cost, schedule, technical design, and risk management as well as working with Blue Origin internal organizations and suppliers to develop and deliver qualied systems.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be the interface between the New Glenn (NG) engineering team, mission management, and external customers. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of NG launch vehicle development. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct trade studies and estimates in support of proposals for external facing customer technical projects.
  • Work closely with the engineering design team, mission management, launch operations, and launch systems groups to ensure the successful integration of payload requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact between the NG engineering team and mission integration for various launch contracts.
  • Interface with payload customers to evaluate mission unique requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Integration of customer requirements and development of mission Interface Control Documents.
  • Ensure payload system requirement validation and implementation with the technical teams.
  • Interface with internal and external customers through the mission integration phase, and ensure customer expectations have been met.
  • Manage requests from multiple complex projects and teams.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements, such as FAA/ITAR/Range, have been met.
  • Support Business Development interactions with external customers leading to mission integration and launch contracts.
  • Lead spacecraft integration and launch contracts ensuring Blue Origin commitments are met on time, on budget, and with success.
  • Integrate customer requirements into New Glenn development and launch services.
  • Brief leadership during payload-to-launch vehicle integration meetings and mission readiness reviews.
  • Participate in proposal and contract development by estimating labor hours, material costs, and qualification efforts for new hardware development.
  • Lead an engineering team though hardware development and integration activities during active launch campaigns.
  • Develop resource-loaded mission Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and coordinate progress with internal and external customers.
  • Report status updates to leadership, and maintain an open line of communication with customers, mission management, and other interfacing groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in an aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering-related eld, with 8+ years of complex product development experience.
  • 5+ years managing complex, multi-disciplinary, fast-paced, aerospace projects.
  • 10+ years industry experience in launch system or satellite operations.
  • Active Top Secret clearance & SCI Eligibility, or ability to obtain final clearances.
  • Ability to travel within U.S. and abroad.
  • Collaborative, constructive, and concise communicator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, team building, and people management skills.
  • Experience in development of launch vehicles.
  • Experience in working with government customers.

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $206,673.00 - $289,342.20 WA applicants is $218,262.00 - $305,566.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
