Job description

IT Project Manager

The IT Project Manager will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within the defined budget. Responsibilities will include planning and execution of technology projects, acquiring/scheduling/coordinating resources to deliver projects according to the plan, and research and report on new technologies and how they provide value to the strategic plan of the organization.

Position requires on-site support 1-2 days per week. While not anticipated, on-site requirements are subject to change based on customer requirements.

Position requires supporting critical nationwide projects in various US time zones (eastern to pacific).

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand current and future business goals and ongoing IT issues to ensure business success
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Document the technical, financial, and resource allocation aspects of each project
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans to track progress
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Anticipate potential project roadblocks and identify alternatives in an independent and efficient manner
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
  • Brief Senior Leadership on project initiatives, status, and future developments within the organization.
Required Experience

• Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, business administration or a related field plus 7+ years of progressive experience leading complex IT projects. Additional experience can be substituted for a degree.

• Strong foundational knowledge of Enterprise Network Engineering (routing, switching, firewalls) and hands-on experience managing ISP/Circuit deployments on a nationwide scale.

• Must have experience as a site deployment lead for network and internet installations at federal regional offices.

• In-depth proficiency in MS Project for schedule management, Visio for workflow mapping, and the MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Must be a proactive problem-solver capable of managing multiple High-Visibility/High-Priority projects simultaneously across all U.S. time zones (EST to PST.

• Must be able to make decisions quickly and adapt to an ever-changing environment.

• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise briefings for non-technical Government executives and stakeholders.

• Must demonstrate a "mission-first" mentality with the ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing federal environment.

• PMP certification is highly desired.

• Must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining an Agency Public Trust clearance prior to start date.
