Job description

Job Title: Senior Project Manager (IT)

Duration: 12 Months
Location: Edmonton, AB (Onsite - 5 days/week)
Working Hours: 08:15 - 16:30 (Monday-Friday)


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (IT) to lead and deliver complex enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. This role involves managing large-scale IT projects with a focus on procurement modernization, ERP implementation, and cross-functional system integration.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including planning, execution, governance, stakeholder communication, and risk management, while supporting executive-level decision-making through data-driven insights.


Project Scope

The role supports a major enterprise transformation initiative involving:

  • Modernization of procurement systems
  • Implementation of a large-scale ERP platform
  • Standardization of cross-functional processes including:
    • Contract-to-Pay
    • Procure-to-Pay
    • Source-to-Contract

The project aims to improve operational efficiency, compliance, data visibility, and long-term value delivery through digital transformation and process optimization.


Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex IT projects across multiple business domains
  • Develop project charters, business cases, and comprehensive project plans
  • Define scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, resources, and governance structures
Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams
  • Facilitate executive-level decision-making through structured reporting and analysis
  • Present project updates, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and steering committees
Planning & Execution
  • Develop detailed project schedules, work plans, and resource allocation strategies
  • Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with scope, budget, and timelines
  • Identify risks, maintain risk registers, and implement mitigation strategies
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare executive briefing notes and status reports
  • Document business requirements and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture
  • Produce deliverables for governance bodies and project stakeholders
Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to project management standards and methodologies
  • Work closely with PMO to align with organizational frameworks and define new standards if required
  • Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and security requirements
Change Management & Communication
  • Provide leadership in change management and communication strategies
  • Support business teams through transformation and adoption processes

Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects, particularly in:
    • Procurement systems (contract-to-pay, procure-to-pay, source-to-contract)
    • ERP implementations (preferably SAP environment)
    • HRIS and financial systems
  • Strong experience in public sector or regulated environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale transformation initiatives
  • Experience preparing executive-level reports and briefing materials
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • Strong expertise in project governance, budgeting, and forecasting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise ERP transformations
  • Familiarity with financial lifecycle systems and budgeting processes
  • Prior experience working with Project Management Offices (PMO)

Work Environment & Requirements
  • Onsite role (5 days per week in Edmonton, AB)
  • Work must be performed within Canada due to data security policies
  • Standard office equipment will be provided
