Job description

Job Purpose:
The IT Operations Intern will support MedPharm's Information Technology department during a 10-12 week summer internship. Under the direction of the VP of IT, the intern will gain hands-on experience in corporate IT operations including end-user support, asset management, IT documentation, and the design and execution of a self-directed project aligned with their professional interests. This role provides a meaningful opportunity for an aspiring IT professional to contribute directly to MedPharm's technology environment while developing practical skills in a regulated life-sciences setting.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide first-line deskside and help desk support to MedPharm employees, including troubleshooting hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues across Windows and mobile environments.
  • Assist with the maintenance and accuracy of the IT asset management system, including hardware inventory tracking, software license records, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Create and update IT process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles to improve team efficiency and ensure continuity.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or improve existing IT workflows and propose solutions to the IT team.
  • Design, scope, and execute a self-directed internship project in an area of personal IT interest, with guidance from the Director of IT; present project outcomes to the team at the end of the internship.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities including account provisioning, equipment setup, and asset recovery.
  • Support IT team members with ad hoc requests and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior at an accredited college or university, open to all majors.
  • Strong interest in Information Technology, computer systems, or related technical fields.
  • Basic familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and general networking concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-service orientation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive, self-starter attitude.
  • Prior coursework or experience in IT, networking, computer science, or a related discipline is a plus.
