CES is a family-owned electrical wholesaler with the benefits of a worldwide service network and the personal service of a neighborhood store. Our "customer service first" core value has allowed us to grow continually for over 65 years while keeping our founding principle of empowering people to make local business decisions. CES now employs more than 7,400 people at over 1,000 branches world-wide of which there are over 500 branches across North America. As a Senior AWS Software Engineer on the City IT Integrations team, you'll help build the core integration technology that connects CES's internal systems and third-party services across a company operating 1,000+ branches worldwide. This is a chance to build enterprise grade, serverless applications that support real scale, and to shape how a growing company's systems talk to each other.
Beyond hands on development, you'll mentor engineers on the team through code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions, helping raise the technical bar across the group. You'll also be trusted with the highest stakes work on the team, the projects where reliability and precision genuinely matter.

  • Design, develop, and implement AWS serverless solutions and enterprise grade applications, using strong TypeScript expertise to deliver robust integration technologies.
  • Guide and mentor the engineering team, conducting peer code reviews and leading knowledge sharing sessions to promote best practices and high coding standards.
  • Work closely with engineering teams across the company to ensure smooth integration between internal systems and third-party services.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using AWS tools such as CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy to support consistent, reliable software delivery.
  • Maintain strong engineering standards, writing well-structured code that follows SOLID design principles, clean code practices, and REST standards.
  • Own and lead high risk, high visibility projects within the team's AWS cloud applications and services.

Education/Experience:
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record in TypeScript development.
  • Extensive, hands on experience with AWS services in a serverless first, microservices oriented environment, including:
    • Compute: Lambda, ECS, Fargate
    • Storage and Data: S3, DynamoDB, RDS
    • Integration: API Gateway, AppSync, Step Functions, EventBridge
    • Security and Identity: IAM, Cognito
    • Networking: VPC, CloudFront, Route 53
  • Hands on experience with CDK for defining cloud infrastructure as code.
  • Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using AWS tooling.
  • Proficiency with Git/GitLab for source control and team collaboration.
  • Experience designing and managing event driven systems for scalable, responsive applications.
  • Prior experience mentoring or supporting other engineers in a cross functional environment preferred.
  • Experience developing software solutions within the wholesale distribution, retail, supply chain, or other related industries is preferred.

Competencies:
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to design effective solutions in complex systems.
  • Clear, effective communicator who collaborates well across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong sense of ownership, particularly on critical or high-risk work.
  • Adaptable and eager to keep learning as technology and best practices evolve.
  • Strategic mindset, able to anticipate challenges before they become problems in integration and development work.

Interview Process:
  • Screening Call with Talent Acquisition Partner (30 minutes)
  • Culture, Values & Technical Interview via Microsoft Teams with the Global API & Integrations Manager, Senior Software Engineer, and Senior AWS Software Engineer (60 minutes)
  • Take-Home Technical Assessment (up to one week to complete)

Benefits Offered:
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance.
  • 401(k) company match program.
  • Telehealth.
