Who We Are

The State Bar of Wisconsin is a professional association, created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, for all attorneys who hold a Wisconsin law license. With more than 25,000 members, the State Bar exists to serve its members and the public by promoting the law and access to justice. We aid the courts in improving the administration of justice, provide continuing legal education and other services for our members, support the education of law students, and educate the public about the legal system.

What You Will Do

As IT Director, you will:

  • Lead IT strategy: Develop and execute a forward-looking technology roadmap aligned with organizational priorities
  • Ensure operational excellence: Oversee all IT systems, infrastructure, and applications to maintain high performance and uptime
  • Champion cybersecurity best practices and ensure protection of organizational data and systems
  • Drive scalability and innovation: Build systems and processes that grow with the organization and adapt to evolving needs
  • Develop and maintain a lifecycle management system
  • Lead the strategy and continuous improvement of digital commerce platforms ensuring a seamless, user-centered experience 
  • Evaluate and streamline the organization's technology portfolio, recommending consolidation or replacement of platforms where redundant, overly customized, or outdated systems currently limit agility and maintainability.
  • Lead and develop a team: Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and accountability for IT staff and vendors
  • Partner across the organization: Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities where technology can improve efficiency, service, and impact
  • Manage resources: Oversee IT budgets, vendor relationships, and technology investments with a focus on value and sustainability
  • Ensure technology enhances staff efficiency and the member experience without unnecessary complexity.

Requirements

  What We Are Looking For

  • Four year degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field. 
  • 10+ years experience of progressive IT experience including experience serving as the primary cybersecurity lead.
  • 5+ years leading an IT department including setting long-term strategy. 
  • Deep understanding of network systems, cybersecurity, software, hardware, PCI compliance, web systems, and IT governance.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Internet, and web server and relational database systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing IT strategic plans and leading system modernization or transformation in a lean environment.
  • Demonstrated project management experience; ability to organize, manage, and implement technology projects.
  • Experience supporting or leading digital commerce platforms, with a strong understanding of user experience, conversion optimization, and customer journey design.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure platforms including Windows, cloud services, networking, and modern SaaS environments.
  • Experience managing hybrid environments (on-prem, cloud, SaaS).
  • Experience leading system modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
