Who We Are Looking For

State Street is seeking a seasoned technology executive to lead engineering and delivery for its business-critical capabilities across back office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading global technology organizations, delivering complex transformation programs, and building secure, scalable, resilient, high-performing enterprise solutions.

The Managing Director will set and execute the technology strategy, strengthen engineering and operational disciplines, reduce technology risk, and accelerate delivery of capabilities that improve client service and advance business objectives.

What You Will Be Responsible For

As Managing Director, Technology, you will:

Define and execute the multi-year technology strategy and roadmap

Lead a global organization spanning software engineering, quality assurance, architecture, cloud, DevOps, release management, and production support.

Partner with Product Management, Operations, Client Services, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Risk, Compliance, and business leadership to deliver strategic technology solutions.

Drive application modernization, cloud transformation, user experience improvement, automation, and platform simplification.

Oversee solution architecture, engineering delivery, production readiness, operational stability, and lifecycle management across the application portfolio.

Establishand govern engineering standards, secure software development practices, CI/CD, automated testing,DevSecOps, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

Ensure platform availability, resiliency, disaster recovery readiness, business continuity, performance, and capacity management.

Own remediation of technology risks, vulnerabilities, audit findings, control gaps, and regulatory commitments.

Oversee strategic vendors and delivery partners, including performance, financial management, risk management, and accountability for delivery outcomes.

Develop senior technology leaders, build succession plans, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Communicate technology strategy, investment priorities, delivery progress, operational health, and risks to senior executives and governance forums.

Education and Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

20+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including significant responsibility for large-scale engineering organizations and business-critical platforms.

Proven experience managing global teams and complex technology portfolios within financial services or another highly regulated industry.

Experience with investment servicing, asset management, fund accounting, or investment operations is strongly preferred.

Demonstrated success defining strategy and delivering enterprise application modernization, cloud transformation, and platform rationalization initiatives with measurable business and technology outcomes.

Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, enterprise integration patterns, relational databases, and modern web technologies.

Experience with Agile delivery, product-aligned operating models,DevOps, automated testing, software quality, and production support.

Experience managing third-party technology vendors, offshore delivery partners, budgets, and strategic investment portfolios.

Working knowledge of regulatory, audit, cybersecurity, information security, data governance, and operational risk requirements applicable to financial institutions.

Work Requirements

Hybrid work arrangement with onsite presence in accordance with company policy and business needs.

Standard business hours aligned with business, client, and stakeholder needs, with flexibility to support global teams across time zones and respond to critical production events.

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $282,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the location above, the applicable range could differ.
