Job description

NV5 (NYSE: TIC) is a leading provider of compliance, technology, and engineering consulting solutions.  Professional Systems Engineering (PSE) is an NV5 Company specializing in the planning and design of advanced technology systems across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including electronic security, audiovisual, IT/tele/data communications, and fire systems.  PSE is a strategic component of NV5’s Technology & Acoustics studio, which consists of approximately 125 people.  

We play a significant role in shaping our communities through the services we provide and are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our team focused on Delivering Solutions and Improving Lives.

We are looking for an engaged Electrical Engineer candidate with design aptitude and capability in one or more of the following: electronic security systems, wired and wireless communications, audiovisual systems, fire detection/protection, and low voltage electrical power. 

This position is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with one or two years of experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry who is seeking career enhancement through garnering higher design skills.

This role involves working on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and top-quality work for our clients. Onboarding and training require in-person work at our Lansdale, PA office for the first 90 days. Following this period, a hybrid work arrangement will be available.


  • Design and produce construction documentation and drawings for bidding.
  • Work from and/or provide design from mark-ups and first drafts, tables, instructions and drawings for production of accurate construction documents.
  • Perform field surveys alongside team members to gather project-related data.
  • Prepare assessments and reports based on the owners’ facilities, conditions and requirements.
  • Develop schedules, spreadsheets, and reports using MS Word and Excel.  Create standard engineering and custom specifications.
  • Create and manage files of AutoCAD and/or Revit drawings, ensuring they meet engineering and client standards.
  • Coordinate, and quality-assure, that the engineering team delivers project outcomes meeting standards and codes.
  • Perform construction administration – review contractor submittals, RFIs, perform site visits and punch-lists to confirm specifications with the built environment as a record of completion.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, products/services, guidelines, and standards, and their applicability to potential projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed on time, within budget, and consistently meets NV5’s high standards of quality.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field with minor in EE.
  • Previous experience in engineering, design, and/or design/build construction is a plus.
  • Obtaining or ability to attain Fundamentals of Engineering.
  • Introductory and/or basic knowledge of AutoCAD progressing to intermediate and advanced skills through on-the-job training and company provided online training.
  • Introductory and/or basic knowledge of REVIT progressing to intermediate and advanced skills through on-the-job training and company provided online training.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and honor commitments. Ability to produce quality work in a flexible hybrid environment.
