What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a technology content writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technology Content Writer, you need strong writing and research skills, a solid understanding of technology concepts, and typically a degree in communications, journalism, or a technical field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and analytics platforms is often required. Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content are valuable soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate, accessible, and impactful technology communications for target audiences.

What is a technology content professional?

Technology Content professionals are individuals who create, manage, and optimize content related to technology topics. They may write articles, produce videos, or develop technical documentation that explains complex tech concepts in an accessible way. Their primary goal is to educate, inform, and engage audiences about technology products, trends, and innovations. These professionals often work closely with subject matter experts, editors, and marketing teams to ensure accuracy and relevance. This hands-on role turns marketing priorities into clear, professional, on-brand creative assets while maintaining accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and compliance in a regulated banking environment.

The position balances creative production with disciplined execution. It works within established brand standards and approval processes, partners with internal stakeholders and outside vendors, maintains organized production workflows, and uses performance data and appropriate AI-assisted tools to improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of marketing output.

Job Functions:

Social Media Strategy, Publishing & Community Management

  • Help develop and maintain channel-specific social media strategies aligned with the Bank's brand, audiences, products, community presence, and marketing goals.
  • Build and manage an editorial calendar; write, design, schedule, and publish platform-appropriate content across the Bank's approved social channels.
  • Adapt copy, creative, calls to action, dimensions, captions, hashtags, and publishing cadence to the audience and purpose of each platform.
  • Monitor comments, messages, mentions, reviews, trends, and emerging issues; respond or escalate according to approved service, privacy, reputation, and compliance procedures.
  • Coordinate content capture at branches, community events, sponsorships, employee activities, and other Bank initiatives; obtain required approvals and releases.
  • Maintain an organized library of approved social content, templates, source files, releases, and publishing records.

Video, Photography & Multimedia Production

  • Plan, script, storyboard, capture, and edit short-form videos for organic social media, paid advertising, recruiting, financial education, product awareness, community outreach, and internal communications.
  • Produce platform-ready versions with appropriate pacing, aspect ratios, captions, audio, branding, thumbnails, and accessibility considerations.
  • Coordinate employees, customers, locations, props, schedules, and releases for photo and video shoots; maintain basic production equipment and file-management practices.
  • Repurpose long-form or event content into short clips, graphics, still images, and other channel-specific assets.
  • Use AI-assisted ideation, transcription, captioning, editing, resizing, and production tools when appropriate, while protecting confidential information and complying with Bank policies and required human review.

Graphic Design, Print & Brand Support

  • Design and update social graphics, digital ads, email graphics, web and landing-page visuals, flyers, brochures, posters, signage, one-pagers, presentations, recruiting materials, event collateral, and internal communications.
  • Apply established visual identity standards, templates, disclosures, image rights, and production specifications consistently across channels.

Analytics, Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report relevant organic and paid performance measures, which may include reach, impressions, engagement, audience growth, video completion, clicks, conversions, cost efficiency, and content performance.
  • Translate results into practical recommendations regarding content themes, creative direction, calls to action, posting frequency, platform mix, and future testing.
  • Monitor platform updates, content trends, competitor activity, accessibility practices, and marketing technology; recommend opportunities appropriate for the Bank's audience and risk profile.

Compliance & Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with special projects, events, market research, vendor coordination, and other marketing responsibilities as assigned.
  • Complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering training appropriate to the position, and comply with all Bank policies and procedures
