Job DescriptionCaturus is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Contracts professional to support Owner oversight of EPC Contractor subcontracting activities for a multibillion-dollar LNG development project. This role is focused on providing commercial and contractual oversight of the EPC Contractor's subcontracting processes, including subcontract formation, evaluation, and post-award administration. The Contracts Manager will review and assess the EPC Contractor's subcontracting strategies and detailed execution to ensure alignment with the EPC Agreement, project objectives, and Owner requirements.
The position requires strong expertise in subcontracting practices within an EPC contractor organization, with the ability to work closely with the EPC Contractor to review and evaluate subcontractor proposals, assess commercial bid evaluations (CBE), and review award recommendations. The role includes oversight of subcontract administration activities performed by the EPC Contractor, including monitoring subcontract change activity, reviewing proposed changes, assessing contractual entitlement, and supporting the resolution of commercial matters, while providing clear analysis and recommendations to Owner stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work closely with the EPC Contractor's subcontracting team, as well as Owner project management, legal, engineering, procurement, project controls and construction teams, to ensure effective oversight of subcontracting activities while maintaining compliance with contractual frameworks and industry best practices.
Key Accountabilities:- Review and evaluate EPC Contractor subcontracting strategies, including bidder lists, scope of work, commercial pricing structures, and evaluation criteria.
- Conduct an independent review of each assigned subcontract pricing structures, scope of work, and budget details to confirm alignment.
- Assess commercial bid evaluations (CBE), clarifications, and recommendation for award packages to identify commercial, contractual, and execution risks.
- Support Owner review and approval processes for subcontract awards, including preparation of evaluation summaries and decision support materials for internal stakeholders;
- Monitor EPC Contractor subcontract administration activities post-award to ensure compliance with subcontract and EPC contractual requirements
- Review subcontract change requests, variations, and claims to assess contractual entitlement and alignment with EPC provisions
- Evaluate cost and schedule impacts associated with subcontract changes and provide recommendations to Owner stakeholders
- Support development of Owner positions on subcontract-related commercial matters, changes, and potential disputes
- Identify and track emerging risks, claims trends, and potential cost or schedule exposure arising from subcontract execution
- Proactively identify issues, gaps, or inconsistencies in EPC Contractor subcontracting activities and recommend mitigation actions
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure consistent and aligned contractual positions
- Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized records of reviews, assessments, and correspondence;
- Support subcontract and commercial reporting, including timely updates on key risks, issues, and status;
- Adapt to changing priorities, evolving scopes, and project needs in a dynamic execution environment;
- Demonstrate a proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong ownership of assigned oversight responsibilities;
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned;
- May be required to work occasional non-traditional hours and travel to Project jobsite to support project execution
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the public
QualificationsEducation, Certificates, and Licenses:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field
Experience:
- 7+ years experience in an EPC subcontracting organization.
- LNG experience preferred, but not required
- Contracting experience in Louisiana preferred, but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive experience in contract management for large‑scale energy infrastructure projects, including oil and gas, LNG, or other complex capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience preparing, negotiating, and administering a wide range of complex contracts, including major construction, EPC, supply, and service agreements.
- Strong familiarity with EPC and major equipment manufacturer PO terms, risk allocation, and commercial intent.
- In‑depth knowledge of contract law, industry regulations, and contract management best practices applicable to large capital projects.
- Proven ability to analyze contractual and commercial issues at the transaction level and apply sound, consistent, and practical resolutions.
- Demonstrated commercial judgment and problem‑solving capability in ambiguous, high‑value, and time‑sensitive situations.
- Ability to manage complex and highly confidential matters in a mature, professional, and discreet manner.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and engage confidently with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate contractual positions, risks, and recommendations to audiences ranging from field teams to executive leadership.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast‑paced, demanding project environment.
