Normal Work Schedule: Tutors must be able to work at least 6 hours per week during business hours. Tutoring hours are: Monday through Thursday--8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Fridays--8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Tri-County Technical College provides free academic support for all students enrolled at TCTC. The Learning Commons offers one-on-one professional tutoring for a variety of content areas, including but not limited to: math, sciences, engineering, psychology, business courses, and nursing and health sciences, along with writing across all content areas. We are currently seeking qualified WRITING AND DOCUMENTATION Tutors with at least a bachelor's degree, professional experience in writing or publishing, or experience teaching English courses. Undergraduate students showing exceptional ability through transcripts and faculty recommendation are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a strong understanding of writing across the curriculum and be confident and proficient helping students apply the conventions of APA and MLA guidelines to their writing. Potential tutors should feel comfortable working one-on-one, in small groups, or online with students. Tutors may also be asked to create handouts, develop learning modules, and perform other tasks as needed. Tutors have the opportunity to become certified through the College Reading and Learning Association.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
  • At least a Bachelor's degree with major or minor emphasis in content area
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Word processing and basic computer skills
  • Eagerness to work with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in content area through advanced degrees or work experience
