Job description

Seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support documentation efforts across engineering, operations, and business teams. This role is based primarily out of the Juno Beach headquarters (700 Universe Blvd.) with regular in-person travel required to the Fort Lauderdale and Miami offices to gather information directly from subject matter experts (SMEs), attend stakeholder meetings, and support cross-site documentation initiatives.
Because this role requires frequent multi-site presence, candidates must have a reliable commute and travel plan covering the Juno Beach / Palm Beach County, Fort Lauderdale / Broward County, and Miami / Miami-Dade County corridor. This is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including procedures, work instructions, engineering specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, and process documentation.
  • Partner directly with engineers, project managers, and operations SMEs across Juno Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami locations to gather technical content — including in-person interviews and working sessions.
  • Translate complex technical and regulatory information into clear, structured documentation for varied audiences (field personnel, engineering staff, compliance/regulatory reviewers, leadership).
  • Maintain document control standards, version histories, and formatting consistency across the documentation library.
  • Support documentation needs tied to NERC/FERC compliance, safety procedures, or generation/transmission project documentation, as applicable to assigned team.
  • Manage multiple concurrent documentation projects and deadlines across business units.
  • Coordinate review cycles, redlines, and approvals with stakeholders at each site.
  • Travel between the Juno Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami offices as needed to support in-person collaboration — travel cadence may range from occasional to weekly depending on project needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional technical writing experience, ideally within utilities, energy, engineering, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio); experience with SharePoint or enterprise document management systems preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical/engineering concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing input from multiple SMEs and stakeholders across locations.
  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel regularly between Juno Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami offices — this is a firm requirement of the role.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting a utility, power generation, or NERC/FERC-regulated environment.
  • Experience with engineering document control systems (e.g., Documentum, SAP, or similar).
  • Familiarity with renewable energy, transmission/distribution, or power generation project terminology.
Commute / Location Requirements
This role is not remote-eligible. Candidates should live within a commutable distance of the Juno Beach corporate office and be prepared for regular travel (own vehicle, mileage reimbursed per company policy where applicable) to:OfficeApprox. Distance / Drive Time from Juno BeachJuno Beach (HQ — primary work site)—Fort Lauderdale office~50–55 miles / ~55–70 min driveMiami office~75–80 miles / ~80–100 min drive (varies with traffic)Given South Florida traffic patterns (I-95 / Turnpike corridor), candidates should realistically expect 1.5–2+ hours of drive time on days requiring Fort Lauderdale or Miami travel. Ideal candidates are based somewhere along the Palm Beach–Broward–Miami-Dade corridor to minimize commute burden, or are willing to accept mileage/travel time as part of the role.
