JOB SUMMARY:
The Utah Jazz are looking for a Motion Designer to join our amazing creative services team. This position will primarily focus on creating motion design for all touch points of the Utah Jazz brand. These touch points include game presentation, broadcast, social, and more. This role will collaborate actively with a team of motion designers ranging from junior to senior levels across 2D and 3D programs.
For this role you must have a good eye, take direction, and be open to notes and feedback. You must be a proficient motion designer, capable of working independently to see a project from concept to completion, as well as collaborating on larger projects and bringing new ideas to the creative voice of the team. You'll be able to combine your passion for sports with motion design. You'll be able to work collaboratively and invite collaboration amongst your team in working closely with other departments and entities. You'll be an effective communicator both up and down the organization chart in explaining motion design choices. This is a full-time, on-site position in Sandy, UT.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conceptualize & execute motion elements for use across the different brands.
  • Effectively apply the brand motion design principles across a variety of needs with taste and thoughtfulness.
  • Self-manage projects from start to finish when required; collaborate effectively with peers on other projects.
  • Engage with the full marketing team to share research & new ideas.
  • Identify gaps in current assets and processes, and suggest alternatives effectively.
  • Keep up to date on current trends & relevant technical innovations, express and share curiosity and continual learning.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Think outside of the box and solve problems.
  • Operate with an emphasis on safety for employees, teams, and guests.

COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite is required (such as After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro).
  • Knowledge of 3D software preferred (Cinema 4D/Redshift primarily).
  • Knowledge of graphic design, typography, and color usage.
  • Knowledge of Essential Sounds and Essential Graphics (such as mogrts).
  • Basic knowledge of color correction (experience in Lumetri Scopes or Da Vinci Resolve is a plus); understanding of conversion and style LUTs.
  • Knowledge of Expressions within After Effects.
  • Experience with Dynamic Link in the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to sound mix and sound design is a plus.
  • Understand frame rates, codecs, resolutions, and other technical specifications for various deliveries of exports (such as social media, TV, and more).

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4 Year Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated professional experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Enthusiasm and knowledge of the NBA is not necessary, but a plus.
  • Flexibility in schedule (such as nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Experience creating quick turnaround projects.
  • Be hands-on and proactive.
  • Passion for the design and creative processes.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong typographic eye.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both in writing and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 50 lbs.
