Job description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Services Manager to join our Marine team inKennesaw, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for responsible for leading the Engineering Services (E/S) team, who perform a variety of duties relating to the support of development teams and ensuring they have the required resources to execute MIC development functions. When prudent, they will create and put into practice processes and methodologies that support the efficient and productive functions of all development teams at the Marine Innovation Center (MIC).
What you'll be doing:
  • Management oversight of the R&D Services team that is embedded in the E/S department. This primarily relates to MIC shop functions, prototype and testing support, development team support, etc.
  • Manage the resources and tasks of the Design Technology Services functions of the MIC. This includes, but is not limited to, management and maintenance of all CAE tools & resources.
  • Manage the resources and direction of Process and Compliance functions within E/S. This includes, but is not limited to, development team process controls, training and tracking.
  • Manage and direct general workload of E/S administrative support and guidance.
  • Liaise and collaborate with YMC E/S team to support buildout of the U.S. team, capabilities and training plans.
  • Work directly with MIC development leadership to ensure key objectives related to MIC development maturity, team engagement and performance are recognized, planned and achieved.
  • Manage department group budget through forecasting, resource needs, outside spending, etc.
  • Foster continued learning of the team through first-hand product exposure, structured learning, and continuous industry exposure.

What you need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of demonstrated experience managing technical teams and directing the development of support of technical systems.
  • Experience in product development and stage gate development approval processes
  • OSHA Maritime Safety, Water/CPR training preferred
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience working in workshop/R&D shop environments, 5+ years preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders, build relationships, and influence decision-making.
  • Passion for the outdoors, boating, fishing, and marine experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel. Estimated travel is 15%.
