Technical Sales Associate

Plymouth is seeking a customer-focused Technical Sales Associate to join our team. In this role, you'll combine technical knowledge with exceptional customer service to support customers, coordinate product solutions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver an outstanding customer experience. Summary

Technical Sales Associate coordinates production of products and services with customers' requirements by administering the selling process, initiating purchase orders and shipments, while ensuring complete customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Customer Advocate inside of Plymouth
  • Assist customers in understanding and applying technical information about Plymouth Engineered Shapes products and services
  • Handle inbound customer calls regarding the technical specifications of materials, products, services and delivery schedules
  • Maintains a database to allow for outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers to qualify leads and sell products
  • Investigate and resolve customer problems relative to technical issues and questions that may arise with regard to our products
  • Interface as a key team member with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance and other departments on important activities  
  • Tracks internal stock levels and outside processing activities for contract customers
  • Respond to customer inquiries (prepare formal quotes and prepare reports of business transactions as requested)
  • Develop strong relationships with multiple levels at each assigned account
  • Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance
  • Responds to all customers with urgency and professionalism
  • Participate in marketing strategy development, provide data as needed
  • Own and role model Plymouth Tube values and behaviors by embracing and participating in an operating culture that promotes involvement, communication, mutual trust & respect, expectations and accountability, and a passion for excellence.
  • Understands, applies and advocates all Company Environmental and Safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • Understands, applies and advocates all Company Quality Standards.
  • Attends all prerequisite training as required by management.
  • Has the authority to stop a process to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes are noncompliant
  • Is a power user of Plymouth’s pricing and costing tools and has the authority to price RFQs within pricing parameters as defined by Plymouth work instructions
  • Exercise independent judgment and handle moderately complex issues and problems
  • and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff

Additional Responsibilities

  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Assist with CSR backup training / scheduling, to include company-wide CSR availability calendar

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree or combination of education and experience
  • 4-6 years of customer service experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and/or aptitude and desire to learn
  • Experience in solving customer problems
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Must be self-motivated, have a high sense of urgency, be able to solve complex problems, situations, be resourceful
  • Must have a high degree of personal integrity in dealing with co-workers
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office
  • Experience with providing coaching and guidance to less experienced team members preferred
