Technical Customer Service & Sales Specialist (Wood Veneer / Manufacturing Support)
Oakwood Veneer Company - Troy, MI
Oakwood Veneer Company is seeking a full-time Technical Customer Service & Sales Specialist to join our team at our headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
This is an on-site position working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM in a professional office and manufacturing environment.
We are looking for an experienced and dependable professional with a background in wood veneer, woodworking, cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, architectural millwork, laminates, wood products, manufacturing support, technical customer service, or technical sales. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, helping customers succeed, and becoming a true product expert in a specialized manufacturing environment.
This position combines technical customer support, inside sales support, manufacturing collaboration, and customer relationship management. You will work directly with customers while partnering internally with operations and production teams to support quality, product performance, and long-term customer success.
In this role, you will:

  • Investigate and solve manufacturing and field-related issues involving veneer cracking, checking, bonding, finishing, installation methods, substrate compatibility, and overall product performance while helping identify practical root-cause solutions.
  • Support sales growth and customer retention by building trusted customer relationships, communicating professionally across departments, and developing deep expertise in Oakwood Veneer products, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.

This is not a traditional customer service or call center position. The successful candidate will become highly knowledgeable in wood veneer manufacturing, technical troubleshooting, finishing systems, defect prevention, quality improvement, and customer applications.
Extensive paid training will be provided during onboarding to help build a full understanding of Oakwood Veneer's products, systems, manufacturing processes, and technical support approach.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, mechanically minded, and comfortable making decisions independently. Strong communication skills, accountability, follow-through, and problem-solving ability are important for success in this role.
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in woodworking, veneer, manufacturing, quality, production support, technical customer service, inside sales, or related industries. Experience troubleshooting product or production-related issues is preferred.
