Job Description
Environmental and Regulatory Project Manager
The Environmental Project Manager is responsible for leading environmental and regulatory projects from proposal development through project completion. This role manages project scope, schedules, budgets, client relationships, environmental permitting efforts, and multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Project manager's focus will be providing utmost satisfaction to the client aligning with DDG's core values and striving to ensure projects are completed within the allocated schedule and budget provided. The project manager is expected to operate projects with a certain degree of autonomy using staff and resources available within DDG's offices to provide the client with the highest quality of services. Experience with client coordination and communication will be fundamental characteristics for the prospective Project Manager.
Activities and Responsibilities:
• Manage environmental permitting, compliance, and regulatory projects for public and private sector clients.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and resource allocations.
• Lead permitting efforts involving agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), state environmental agencies, and other regulatory authorities.
• Coordinate environmental assessments, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species reviews, habitat assessments, and other environmental studies.
• Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, environmental documentation, and agency correspondence.
• Manage project financial performance, including invoicing, forecasting, and budget tracking.
• Mentor and supervise environmental scientists, biologists, and technical staff.
• Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, client outreach, and project interviews.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong understanding of Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404, NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and related environmental regulations.
• Excellent project management, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong technical writing and report review capabilities.
• Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to be both creative and analytical.
• Detail-oriented and accurate.
