The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. EOIS develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles and airborne platforms. Job Summary
The Research, Advanced Prototyping, and Innovative Design (RAPID) Laboratory within the Electro-Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) business is responsible for all materials, FPA, and camera research to advance EOIS technology with government and industry partners. Selected withheld and strategic efforts are also executed in the RAPID Lab to accelerate development. The Technical Program Manager for the RAPID Laboratory is responsible for managing the daily execution of a large, complex program, or several smaller complex programs in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor the quality of deliverables
  • Organize project and task workloads and selects individuals most qualified for specific projects
  • Lead all meetings and the integrated product team (kick-off through project close)
  • Provide interface, communication, and coordination with internal and external customers on matters pertaining to existing contracts and bid and proposal activities
  • May lead bid and proposal activities, ensuring that the requirements of the request for proposal are met in the preparation and documentation of bids and proposals
  • Develop new methods for tracking and reporting program status statistics
  • Actively seek new business opportunities in coordination with Business Development
  • Represent management at program reviews, meetings, seminars, etc.
  • Maintain complex and/or challenging customer relationships
  • Make recommendations to management on changes as appropriate

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with technical training
  • 5+ years functional or program management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Team player who communicates effectively to promote collaboration across the organization.
  • Ability to achieve results in a matrixed organizational structure, interfacing and coordinating efforts with various functional groups, including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance

Desired Skills
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in the Physical Sciences or Engineering
  • 5+ years leadership experience managing technology development programs
  • Prior defense industry experience in the development of electro-optics
  • Possess an active U.S. security clearance or can obtain one

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
