Position Title:Hatchery Intern
Hiring Manager: Michael Barnes

Minimum Salary: $22.82/hr
*APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.
Position Description:
McNenny Hatchery interns will be involved in all aspects of hatchery operations, including fish culture activities such as feeding, fish inventories, and rearing unit cleanings. They will stock fish into public fish waters, and perform building, grounds, and equipment maintenance. The interns will play a key role in numerous hatchery research projects, primarily by collecting data and conducting literature reviews, but also by assisting with data analysis and manuscript preparation. Interns may also be assigned lead responsibilities on a specific research project. Since 2015, students have been first authors on 33 published papers, and co-authors on an additional 15 publications. Current research projects involve aquaculture engineering, fish reproductive biology, fish spawning and rearing techniques, fish surgery methods, and aquaculture occupational safety and health.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
