Role: Scrum Master
Location: Olympia, WA
Duration: 12 Months
Job Description:
The scrum master will facilitate, guide and coach teams commit to and accomplish work on an iterative basis either in Scrum or Kanban. Ensures Agile principles (Scrum or Kanban) are being followed and ensures team is consistently holding and attending Agile ceremonies. Interfaces with Product Owner and Development Team Manager on a consistent basis to be in alignment with vision, goals, and to ensure there is a common understanding for each scrum team. Drives team to improve efficiency, quality, and predictability on an iterative basis and pushes the team to deliver as much value to the business customer as possible.
Primary Role and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Organize and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
โ€ข Work collaboratively with Product Owners, cross-functional development teams, and Technical Managers to support development and data delivery to our customers both internal and external.
โ€ข Assist the Product Owner in user story creation/prioritization and product Backlog grooming via emergent requirement elicitation while supporting overall organizational goals.
โ€ข Track and report Scrum team velocity and manage Sprint capacity.
โ€ข Guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment. Escalate blocking impediments accordingly.
โ€ข Facilitate discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution. Ability to get the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
โ€ข Coordinate dependencies between teams with other Scrum Masters/Technical Managers.
โ€ข Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
โ€ข Coach the team and stakeholders on Agile/Scrum practices.
โ€ข Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
โ€ข Ensure cross-functional coordination (analysts, developers, and testers) is occurring early and often.
โ€ข Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information; responsible for creating clear status reporting to leadership
Qualifications:
โ€ข Overall 7+ years of information technology experience
โ€ข Must have 5+ years of Scrum Master experience
โ€ข Must be an Agile certified professional certification like CSM or PMP ACP or SAFe Agilist etc
โ€ข Experience working in environments with different Agile approaches (ie. Scrum, Kanban)
โ€ข Experience working with Agile Project Management Tools like TFS for Agile, JIRA, Pivotal Tracker etc
โ€ข Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines; candidate will be responsible for management of more than one scrum team
โ€ข Must be self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
โ€ข Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate
โ€ข Ability to understand and communicate technical issues
โ€ข Excellent interpersonal skills while working with diverse teams and remaining calm under pressure and cognizant of how you are perceived
โ€ข Ability to hold team members accountable, set clear sprint performance standards, resolve sprint performance issues, keep team engaged and on task
