This individual will bring structure to how work is defined, prioritized, and delivered, ensuring speed, clarity, and accountability across a complex and evolving data environment.

This role requires someone who can engage meaningfully with engineers, challenge assumptions, and understand tradeoffs, while not being responsible for hands-on development. The ideal candidate knows when to push, when to escalate, and how to unblock teams by navigating the right technical and organizational paths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and data teams
  • Gather and translate business needs into clear, structured user stories with acceptance criteria
  • Ensure alignment on business outcomes, success metrics, and priorities
  • Partner with technical leads to ensure work is appropriately scoped, prioritized, and sequenced
  • Serve as Scrum Master across data workstreams, leading sprint ceremonies including planning, grooming, standups, and retrospectives
  • Establish and enforce best practices for backlog management, story writing, estimation, and sprint planning
  • Track progress against sprint goals and proactively manage risks, blockers, and dependencies
  • Facilitate working sessions and UAT support to ensure delivered solutions meet expectations
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of data initiatives from intake through deployment and validation
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies across systems such as Snowflake, Sigma, Oracle EBS, PLM, Middleware, etc.
  • Maintain clear program-level visibility through status reporting, dashboards, and stakeholder updates
  • Drive alignment across multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing strategic priorities and ad hoc requests
  • Optimize use of tools such as Jira for backlog management, sprint tracking, and reporting
  • Maintain structure around intake, prioritization, and governance of requests
  • Continuously improve team efficiency, communication, and delivery predictability
  • Establish and lead incident management processes, including defining SLAs, severity levels, and response protocols to ensure timely triage and resolution of data issues
  • Drive clear stakeholder communication during incidents and lead postmortems to identify root cause, implement corrective actions, and improve overall data reliability and monitoring

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Scrum Master, or Project Management roles within data or technology organizations
  • Strong understanding of data ecosystems including data engineering, analytics, BI/reporting, and data science workflows
  • Proven experience running agile delivery at scale, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and estimation practices
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills required for stakeholder as well as technical communication
  • Experience in retail, eCommerce, or luxury goods is a plus
  • Working understanding of cloud environment (AWS, GCP) and cloud databases (Snowflake, Databricks, PostgreSQL) is a nice to have

What Success Looks Like

  • Visibility into data teams' work for stakeholders and Tech leadership alike
  • Data team operates with clear, consistent agile processes and well-defined backlogs
  • Business stakeholders have confidence in delivery timelines and outputs
  • Requirements are clearly defined upfront, reducing rework and ambiguity
  • Cross-team dependencies are proactively managed
  • The data organization delivers with speed, predictability, and transparency
