Scope of Job
To perform advanced program administration, development and coordination. Responsible for all phases of program development and coordination of program activities.
Description of Duties
  • Administers and manages programs and initiatives that promote student involvement, innovation, entrepreneurship, commercialization, leadership development, and experiential learning.
  • Develops and implements strategic goals, programming, and assessment measures that support student success, retention, and participation.
  • Collaborates with the Vackar Office of Involvement and Center for Engagement (VOICE) and other university departments to plan, coordinate, and implement student involvement initiatives, leadership development programs, innovation-focused events, networking experiences, and co-curricular activities that enhance student involvement and success.
  • Coordinates mentorship, experiential learning, and venture development opportunities that connect students with industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
  • May recommend and implement policies, procedures, and operational improvements to enhance program effectiveness and achieve established objectives.
  • Develops and implements marketing, outreach, and recruitment strategies to increase student participation and awareness of Center for Innovation and Commercialization (CIC) programs and services.
  • Establishes and maintains tracking systems to collect, monitor, and evaluate program data, student engagement, participation, outcomes, and partner satisfaction.
  • Prepares reports, proposals, presentations, assessments, and other program documentation; analyzes results and recommends program improvements.
  • Oversees program budgets, expenditures, event logistics, and operational activities to ensure efficient and effective program delivery.
  • Supervises assigned staff; coordinates staff, training and development; provides guidance, establishes work priorities, and evaluates employee performance.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with university departments, industry partners, entrepreneurs, community organizations, funding agencies, and other external stakeholders in support of program objectives.
  • Represents the CIC at University, community, and professional events, conferences, and special events.
  • Participates in professional development activities and performs special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University.

Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience performing closely related duties, including program planning/coordination or related experience in the appropriate field of the program, or
  • Three (3) years of the required experience with a Master's degree, or
  • Seven (7) years of the required experience with an Associate Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or
  • Nine (9) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience
Experience in contract negotiations.
Equipment
Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
